The state municipal archive of Yerevan was founded according to N613 decision of the ASSR ministers council, 4 November, 1980, and started its activity in January of 1981.
On 20 March, 2003 with N291-N decision of the RA government, the state archive was reorganized into ‘’National Archive of Armenia’’ state non-profit organizations municipal branch.
There are mainly archive documents of 1931-1996 concerning municipal council of Yerevan, regional councils of Yerevan and organizations and a number of notarial offices under their subordination, maintained in the archive.
Documents maintained in the archive have various contents and they throw a light upon the building improvement, regional-administrative units, renaming of the capital city, property of citizens and other diversified questions.
Also documents of a number of abolished organizations in Yerevan are maintained in the branch.
