2010-06-29

Recently the fund of NAA was refilled with one more personal archive: U.S. resident Karpis Feschyan gave his personal archives to National Archives, collected during over 40 years of creative activity in the theatrical life of Armenia. Karpis Onik Feschyan, together with his family immigrated from Romania (the city Costanza) to Armenia back in 1948. Receiving secondary and higher education in Yerevan, he began his career at the State Theater in Armenia: in Goris, Kamo, Comedy Theatre in Yerevan, at the Puppet Theater after Hovh. Tumanyan. He is a repeated winner of All-Union and republican festivals and has received numerous awards: a gold medal, the Order of Friendship for courage, twice won the gold medal of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR. In 1990 Karpis Feschyan, together with his family emigrated to the U.S. - first settled in Boston, where he directed a theater group and then moved to Los Angeles, where he still lives today and also runs his national theater group. In addition, Karpis Feschyan is engaged in teaching activities. Archival materials donated to the National Archives, are mainly composed of numerous pictures and articles from local and foreign periodicals devoted to the Armenian theatrical art, which has a rich tradition. Management of the National Archives of Armenia highly praised this noble gesture of Karpis Feschyana and hopes that his example will be followed by all the Armenians who live and work in different parts of the globe.
